I know there are a few continuity errors with some of the discussed events, but I just couldn’t resist – so just go with it?

He lights the joint, pulling the smoke deep into his body and holding it there like a prisoner. It sinks in, and the edges of his vision blur, so he closes his eyes, leaning back against the hard wooden chair back. When he finally exhales and opens them again, he can see her across the room through the smoke, splayed out like a pagan offering on his sheets. The pale, supple body she occupies is covered in light freckles – he’s traced their patterns with his lips, now. That must be a thing for you, huh, some part of him chortles darkly. He rejects the thought, covering it with another layer of smoke, another deep inhalation.

“So that’s the only way to fly anymore, hmm? How does it compare, Clarence?” The mocking is steeped in legitimate curiosity. He ignores her. “Was all this worth it? Turning in your harp and cloud for a little puff and blow? A few quick tugs on your vessel’s –”

“You looked better as a brunette.”

This is the order in which the books will be published even though the chronological order is vice-verca. The novels can actually be read in every oder - they might spoil each other.
